Social Selling for MLMs
How to make MLM work without seeming pushy, annoying and spamming family and friends-of-friends on social media.
How to make MLM work without seeming pushy, annoying and spamming family and friends-of-friends on social media.
There’s an age-old marketing concept often referred to as the Know-Like-Trust factor. If you’ve been on the internet for any length of time, it will be familiar.
And the way entrepreneurs typically do this on social is by
Unfortunately this model has been mis-interpreted by MLM folk as…
Look, I made this mistake too. I’ve been in MLM. Yes. No need to be surprised. It’s excellent training ground. I’ve learned SO much about marketing and sales that continue to serve me (and my business) well today.
Thankfully, I was introduced to the Attraction Marketing Model by my MLM mentor and up-line at the time, Mike Dillard. It made my MLM journey way easier and far more profitable.
The principles are the same – whether you’re selling your own product or someone else’s – it’s the same laws of marketing and honestly, simply being human!
Help people long before asking them to buy stuff and they’ll run to… buy your stuff!
It’s soooo much easier to ATTRACT prospects into your sales process than it is to push your products onto them.
So start with giving value – education. And no, education does not mean educating them on your product.
Law of Attraction Marketing #1: It’s not about you.
Law of Attraction Marketing #2: It’s not about your product.
Law of Attraction Marketing #3: It’s all about them – your prospect. What they want.
So what might your social selling process look like?
Step 1: Prospects: You can’t help everyone. Accept this.
Get clear on who it is that will have the best outcome using your product or being in your business.
Example:
Say you’re selling health and weight loss supplements in your MLM, e.g. ketogenic drinks?
Replace family fitness and well being (way too general) with “I help professional women in their 40s lose up to 10kgs of fat in 12 weeks or less”
Step 2: Problems. Get clear on what your prospects’ ultimate goals are and what’s standing in their way – specifically the problems you and your MLM product(s) can help them solve.
Example: It’s not really about ‘losing weight’ – it’s about “re-gaining the confidence and energy I once had pre babies and have my partner look at me dreamily again”
But…
Step 3: Promise: Brainstorm 3-5 topics that provide them with the solutions to help them overcome their problems.
Example:
Step 4: Post: Create 3-5 minute videos that help them solve these problems. Post these videos on social media.
Step 5: Paid: Start building up a warm audience of people by running a video views ad campaign.
You can do this spending as little as $1 / day on Facebook.
Then retarget those who watch with an offer to chat about how you can help them with their problem. Remember it’s NOT about your MLM (Law of Attraction #1 and 2)
Step 6: Product: When they reach out – show them that you can help them by actually helping them with what they need and want! (Remember Law of Attraction Marketing #3).
Only offer your product where it’s suitable.
Truth is, at this stage, you’ll be amazed how many people will ask you how to sign up or buy!
