Whilst we’re all keen to promote our service or product, in a social setting, 24/7 promotions are social suicide.
For 2 main reasons:
- Just like you wouldn’t propose marriage and discuss baby names on your first date, why hit your unsuspecting visitor with your product the first time they get to know you?
- It’s simply overwhelming, not to mention, jarring on a platform that’s meant to be, well, social
Think about it – your audience is on social media to catch up with their friends and family, be entertained by cat videos…
They’re not expecting to be bombarded with a “buy my stuff” post straight off the bat.
You’re on social media to meet them where they are at; to get them to know, like and trust you AND to build a strong connection with them so that when you do recommend a solution they are more likely to listen and follow through.
The best way to connect with your audience is to inspire and encourage.
Listen to what really drives your audience. They are people with dreams, desires, and fears. Be there for them like you would a friend. Lift them up so that they are in the best position to take you up on your solution that will really help them.
